Hey!
Welcome back to another Painted By Fame....
I'm joking! Welcome back to another Jamie Spills The Tea. The blog series where I try to discuss and educate you on LGBT people within the world and LGBT based topics. Today I'm going to be spilling the tea on the one and only Miss Fame.
Miss Fame is the stage name of Kurtis Dam-Mikkelsen whi is an American drag queen, makeup artist, model, recording artist and reality television personality. Miss Fame competed on season 7 of RuPaul's Drag Race. Miss Fame has worked with such high fashion brands such as Tommy Hilfiger, Versace and Prada which has definitely earned her the title of Super Model Drag Queen.
Following their elimination from the show, Kurtis launched a music career, under the name Miss Fame, releasing their debut single, "Rubber Doll" in April 2015. Their debut album, 'Beauty Marked', was released in June 2015. I have this album on right now and it is amazing. Miss Fame also has their own YouTube channel where they post makeup tutorials which have featured drag queens such as Drag Race Alumni Katya Zamolodchikova and Willam. Miss Fame was a spokesperson for L'Oréal Paris during the 2016 Cannes Film Festival and was the first drag artist to walk the red carpet.
When I first watched the first episode of RuPaul's Drag Race Season 7, my eyes were instantly drawn to three drag queens for different reasons, The first one was Miss Fame. I'm not sure if it was because of their personality, their sickening looks or their general presence but I knew that I was going to be rooting for her within the show and I was definitely rooting for them. I thought that they were absolutely adorable when I found out that they talked to their Chickens. Some may find that absolutely bonkers but it was cute. Miss Fame may have relied on pretty but at the end of the day before coming onto the show they made their money via being a makeup artist and a model so be able to attempt the things such as comedy etc but be able to kill the runway via selling the garment via their body and painting to perfection otherwise the audience would be questioning their daytime job after the show has been aired. I loved them on the show eitherway and I love their tattoos!
As I said in the description for Miss Fame, they released their first album in 2015 which is called Beauty Marked which I absolutely love. There is a mixture of genres via songs in this album and I think that there is something for everyone. My two favourites are Rubber Doll which was their first single. I think that it has such a BDSM inspired Pop vibe to it which is needed for when you need to feel bad ass or when its a Monday and you don't think you'll be able to make it through the rest of the week or Instafame which has such a Lana Del Rey Born To Die album vibe to which I am in heaven with. Go and check it out via Spotify/iTunes etc!
I have also been watching Miss Fame's YouTube channel for quite a while (click here if you want to check it out) and honestly I think everyone needs to watch at least one of their tutorials no matter who you are. Its just amazing to see how anyone can transform within minutes whether you're interested in makeup or not. Miss Fame tells the audience so many tips when it comes to makeup in every tutorial video and thats what I love about them as they want to help as many people as possible and her looks are always out of this world. I loved the last tutorial which included Katya Zamolodchikova as Katya provided the comedy and Miss Fame provided the wisdom. I've not gotten into makeup or drag due to many factors such as being scared/thinking that I wouldn't apply correctly and give off the worse clown look ever but if Miss Fame ever wanted to paint me then I'd definitely be down for that,
What's your honest opinion on Miss Fame? Let me know down below? Who would you like me to spill the tea on next? Let me know down below or tweet me at @thejamiesowden.
I hope that you have been educated slightly via this post. I hope that you've enjoyed it. Sorry for not really keeping up with Jamie Spills The Tea recently but I thought I would get back into it via writing about getting tested (click here if you want to read that) and Miss Fame. I will definitely try and keep posting more of this series every week.
Thanks for reading!
Jamie x
