Sparkling In The Spooky Season | Lush Halloween 2017 Range

Hey!

Welcome to a brand new blog post! Halloween is just around the corner and as Lush are infamous for their Halloween ranges, I thought that today I would tell you all about their Halloween range for 2017.

Bath Bombs:

Monsters Ball

Boo! Mike Wazowski is here to stay! This Bath Bomb takes inspiration from the wonderful Disney Pixar film 'Monsters Inc via the design especially with the huge wide eye! This product contaisn Lime and Neroli Oils which create a sweet yet citrus scent (if you're a big Lushie then you will know that these two items create the infamous Calacas scent) and Olibanium Oil which helps to relax. I love this for when you want something that's comforting but also Halloweeny. Fun fact: the pupil is made out of Vegan Dark Chocolate. £4.50

Pumpkin

Let's bathe in these spices! This product is named well after the item that it resembles... A Pumpkin! This bath bomb contains Allspice Oil, Vanilla Absolute and Cinnamon Bark Oil which gives the product a scent that resembles a Pumpkin Pie due to the spices that are used in the Pie are the same as what are used in the Bomb. I think that this is a great one if you like Pumpkin Pie or want something a bit cosy in your bath! £4.25.

Lord Of Misrule

LOM is a Bath Bomb that is bright green but inside lies a Red as Wine interior which I think is quite comforting. If you want to drink a glass of Red Wine to go along with the interior of this product then I'm not going to stop you. This bath bomb contains Black Pepper & Patchouli Oils and Vanilla Absolute which gives the product a spicy but sweet scent. It also contains Popping Candy which gives the product a bit of drama! I think that this would be great for a cold Autumnal Evening and you can always team it up with the LOM Shower Cream, £3.95.

Ectoplasm Jelly Bomb

Ectoplasm is a Jelly Bomb that is around for the 'Spooky Season'. If you haven't tried a Jelly Bomb then the best way to describe is well a Bath Bomb with Jelly that is made from Seaweed. If you've tried the Shower Jellies before then imagine putting one of them into the middle of a Bath Bomb. They do create a weird texture in the bath water but after a while, the Jelly dissolves into the water and  just makes your skin feel extra smooth! This product contains Tangerine and Grapefruit Oils which help to uplift the mind and soul and make the bath smell Citrusy! This product also has a little friendly Ghost on the top of the bomb to ensure that you know that it's for the Halloween season! £4.95.

Bubble Bars:

Bewitched

Meow! If you instantly think of Black Cats when it comes to Halloween and Witchcraft then you will love this Bubble Bar! This product contains Olibanium and Bergamot Oils which give the bar a sweet but deep scent. This product shares the same scent as the legendary but now gone Blackberry Bath Bomb. £4.25.

Sparkly Pumpkin

The perfect Bubble Bar to use before going to the Ball! The infamous Sparkly Pumpkin is back for 2017! This product contains Juniperberry Oil (Juniperberries have antiseptic properties), Lime and Grapefruit Oils which give the Pumpkin a deep but bright scent. It also contains a dusting of Lustre and a Cinnamon Stick to make sure it looks like a miniature Pumpkin. You could always use a tiny bit and pair it with the Pumpkin Bath Bomb if you were feeling extra luxurious! £4.25.

Pink Pumpkin

Pretty In Pink! This Bubble Bar is an alternative to the Sparkly Pumpkin in case you're wanting something a little bit more floral! This Bar contains Bergamot & Geranium Oils which give the product a deep but floral scent and Jasmine Absolute which adds to the floralness of the product. £4.25

Soaps & Shower Creams

Hedgewitch

The concept of Hedgewitch is that there used to be Hedge Witches who created ailments via using items that they found in the hedgerows and the like. This soap has a base of Fair Trade Organic Cocoa Butter and Extra Virgin Coconut Oil which keeps skin smooth in the cold Autumn weather. It also contains Honeysuckle Flower Infusion, Osmanthus Absolute (Plums), Pettigrain Oil, Sicilian Mandarin Oil and Freeze Dried Blackberries which give the product a deep but fruity scent. £5.94 per 120g.

Magic Wand

Bibbidi Bobbidi Boo! This soap just looks like something you would love to have in your bathroom in Halloween/Bonfire Night sort of season. This soap contains Orange and Tangerine Oils, Pomegranate Molasses and Charcoal which is one of the top beauty trends at the moment. Charcoal also obviously helps with the colour of the soap. £4.50 per 120g.

Lord Of Misrule Shower Cream.

There isn't that much difference between the Bath Bomb and Shower Cream but the Shower Cream contains a Patchouli and Peppercorn Infusion and Fair Trade Organic Cocoa Butter to nourish the skin and make the texture more of a cream. I love the colour of this product as it's a deep Green and it stains the skin slightly in my opinion before you massaging onto the skin which means you can sometimes pretend to be Shrek if you want. (It washes off, don't worry.) From £10.95.

Lip Care And Shimmer Bars

Black Rose Lip Scrub

Roses aren't Red and Violet's aren't Blue. This lip scrub is available for Halloween in a Naked and Packaged version. The Naked version is more of a solid block that you can glide over your lips for ease. This product contains Caster Sugar which well makes up the Scrub part of the Lip Scrub. ,Murumuru and Illipe Butters to keep lips soft after scrubbing, Mandarin, Spearmint and Ylang Ylang Oils which give the a deep but slightly fresh scent and Charcoal which gives the product it's colour. £5.75.

Black Rose Lip Tint

This is similar to the Lip Scrub but instead of the Caster Sugar, this product contains Candelila Wax, Rose Wax, Sunflower Wax and much more. There is also a naked and non-naked version of this product. Lip Tints are used as sort of a Lip Balm crossed with a Lip Gloss. £6.50.

g

Goth Fairy Shimmer Bar

This Shimmer Bar will definitely give you a glow for those nights where you want to sparkle as this product contains Green, Gold, Purple and Silver Lustre! This bar is also meant to nourish the skin which it does via Illipe and Cupuacu Butters. It also contains Bergamot, Grapefruit and Almond Oils which give this product a deep but slighty fruity scent.

Floating Into Autumn With Good Skin | Admiral Grooming Launch

Hey!
Welcome to a brand new blog post! I was invited to a wonderful event that was held to showcase the new grooming range from the amazing Admiral Grooming and I thought that today I would talk to you guys about it.

Admiral is the original British sports brand with over 100 years of sporting heritage which can still be seen today. The first Admiral Grooming products range takes it’s inspiration from the Admiral Gold Menswear collection. Admiral Gold gets it’s influence from the brand’s origins and it’s British heritage, combining classic styling with modern elements! This high-end grooming range is influenced from Admirals rich history and a love for the highest quality British-grown ingredients.

We arrived at the wonderful Aspire, which is situated in the heart of Leeds City Centre and is literally on a stone's throw away from Leeds Railway Station, figured out where we were meant to be going and made our way to the heart of the event which was within the bar/lounge area of the building. We ordered two Orange Juices as we all know I have a weird situation with Prosecco so I thought it would be best to stick to Orange Juice and so did Luke. We then sat down on a plush Leather Sofa and chatted for a while.

After chatting for a while, the founder of Admiral Grooming came up to us and had a discussion about the wonderful brand and it's heritage as Admiral Grooming is based within the heart of Bradford which was great to hear due to being from Bradford. They also talked to us about what would be going on throughout the rest of the night.

Myself and Luke then decided to play with the perfect products that were in front of us, The first product that we had a good mess about with was a superb shave cream The full name of this product is Hydrate & Repair Shave Cream with Kale Extract. The Hydrate & Repair Shave Cream repairs and hydrates skin after any damage that may have occurred during the shaving process which has happened to myself and probably many of the people reading this post. The cream soothes and heals the skin for a more comfortable shaving experience. This cream contains Kale Extract (which is within the name of the product) which is a rich source of Vitamins including Vitamin C and Calcium which help to repair the skin. When I applied it at the event it was smooth on the skin but slightly becomes matte after a while which I like because then I can stick a Moisturiser on top if needs be but also at the same time means that I won't be going around all day wondering if I still have the product on my skin which sometimes happens with some creams. £8.99.

The other product that we played with was the Antioxidant Moisturising Balm with Artichoke Extract. This product hydrates and strengthens the skin. Skin can become damaged from shaving or other things such as the weather and this moisturer helps to protect sensitive, irritated skin, and  locks in the skins moisture which is great as it means that the irritation will slowly stop and you'll be back on track to having amazing skin! The Artichoke extract included in this product which again is included in the title is used as it helps to regenerate skin cells and calms down irritated skin. £9.99.

We then were treated to a talk about the wonderful Jamie Peacock MBE who has played for various rugby teams who talked about such things as his career, his love for rugby, his love for Yorkshire and much more.

We then were treated to some amazing food including some wonderfully spiced Piri Piri Chicken, beautiful Sausage and Onion Rolls and crispy Onion Bhajis which represented the hometown of Admiral Grooming quite well.

We said our goodbyes and was handed a wonderful goodie bag which included a Moisturising Balm and a wonderful Anti-Ageing Eye Serum and much more.

What's your favourite grooming product? Let me know down below!

Thank you to wonderful Sarah that invited us to the event and hosted the wonderful event. Thank you to the staff at Admiral for putting on an amazing event and for creating wonderful products.

I hope that you've enjoyed this beauty based blog post and I hope that you come back next time for another blog post.

What My Mental Health Was Like Within First Month Of Uni

Hey!

Welcome to a brand new blog post! The title probably explains what this blog post is going to be about. I've been at University for over a month and I just thought that it would be good to talk about how my mental health has been within that time.

University is a challenging thing especially when moving into a flat/accomodation which is normally the first independent living space that they've had, meeting new students, finding campuses, getting used to new lecturers, getting used to the course, getting used to the city and their surroundings, budgeting, coping with freshers and getting used to juggling everything with assignments and reading materials on a weekly basis.

Moving into somewhere new always takes it's toll on anyone but especially someone that suffers with mental health problems because honestly, mentally it takes a lot out of you getting used to somewhere new once the moving situation has been sorted with. I also think that it took me a while getting used to the place that I'm living in for the first year of university due to living behind a big music arena especially after the tragic events that happened in Manchester this year.

Getting used to new campises and getting lost can be a struggle on anyones mental health especially if you suffer with anxiety because you double check everything and try to make sure that the app has got your route opened up already so you're prepared but what happens normally includes your phone or app screwing up, taking a wrong turn or everything going well and okay but you still don't think you're going the right way so you end up self doubting yourself yet you're too anxious to ask anyone thats passing in case it makes you look completely stupid and then you end up checking your phone or watch several times to ensure you're getting there by the time you've been told to arrive and then you try to calm down for the next twenty or so minutes.

Homesickness normally happens within the first few months of living alone at University but I didn't feel homesick due to being quite close to home as it's only two buses away. I think only knowing mainly citizens of Leeds who work quite a lot compared to me whos got two days off a week which are spent either going home, sorting things for uni out or looking for jobs, it means that spending time with them is rare which honestly made me feel a bit lonely within a major massive city such as Leeds which just triggered my depression and made me wonder if all of this is really worth it and was I trying hard enough to make friends on my course?

Freshers doesn't appeal to me in any form whatsoever. The most I did at my Freshers Week was sit in a room and drink some tea and eat a good amount of cake for free and in my opinion that beats spending so many hours not remembering whats going on the morning after. The latter has a time and a place but cake normally beats it in my opinion. I don't get drunk off alcohol. I get more aware of my surroundings and then end up needing to go outside and then I end up having an anxiety attack of some sort so going into a nightclub where it's dark, sticky and loud wouldn't help it much.

What I'm attempting to get at is that things can be tricky when attempting something like University and its good to take a breather. Everything isn't great for me at the moment but I'm sure it'll get better when/if I get a moment to think and breathe.

Try to talk to your GP and get things sorted if possible or try and talk to your university and see what welfare services even though the NHS has had as many cuts as possible including mental health services, they are doing the best that they can.

Thanks for reading my rambly mental health student based blog post and I hope to see you next time for another blog post!

Getting Local & Getting Festive | Booths Christmas Preview Event

Hey!

Welcome to a brand new blog post! I know that it's far too early to be typing Christmas but Booths invited to their Christmas Preview Event at their Ilkley event a while ago and I thought I would talk to you about what happened at the event.

We arrived at Booths and entered the designated area where everything was screaming festive and ready to party. Myself and Luke grabbed a drink and slowly made our way around the room.

We stopped off at the Vodka stand. Of course, I would instantly go to the Vodka stand. Honestly, I'm bad with remembering names and brands unless it's completely drilled into me but this Vodka tasted of sweet Caramel with a slight salty kick and I loved it! I think that this would be great to have alongside dessert at any Christmas event or on Christmas Day itself.

We then wandered onto the Pie stand and I absolutely loved these. From my recollection, you can order the big Pies within in store for you to collect for big parties or or the big day. You can also pick up some of the smaller pies instantly in your local store including a wonderful Game one which I had a slice of and it was delicious. I also had a taste of the Ham and Apple Pie and oh my gopd I could eat both all day everyday!

Myself and Luke then walked on to the Sweet Treats section. I could live in this section forever. If you don't see me for the festive season then its probably because I'm hibernating here! The first sweet treat that myself and Luke tried were the Chocolate Stollen Bites. I know that Stollen and Chocolate sounds like a weird mixture but I loved it. If you're a bit confused at what Stollen actually is then let me tell you. Stollen is known as a rich German fruit and nut loaf which sometimes has Marzipan and other things in. These little bites had little dark chocolate chips embedded into them and were dusted in sugar.

We then had a taste of some Amaretto Brownies and I think that these are my new favourite thing in the world. These are described as a Dark Chocolate Brownie bites with Amaretti Biscuits, topped with a light Sugar dusting. I love a good Brownie but these were amazing as the Dark Chocolate mixed with the sweet but slightly nutty Amaretti Biscuits is amazing. If you can get your hands on these then I'd definite;y tell you to try them.

Next on the sweet treat list were Caramel and Pretzel Shortbread Bites. These are described as s crumbly all Butter Shortbread base with a generous layer of smooth Caramel, topped with salted Pretzels and finished with a drizzle of Belgian Milk Chocolate. I loved these due to the sweetness of the Caramel and Chocolate against the salty pretzels but I think personally a tiny sprinkle of salt on top would make it perfect for myself but I love anything that has a sweet/salty relationshio going on.

Last stop on the sweet treats train is, Iced Christmas Cake Bars. These are described on the website as, Fruit Cake with Apple soaked Vine Fruit, Cherries and Dates, topped with a layer of Marzipan. I'm not the biggest fan of Fruit Cake or Marzipan but the Cake wasn't as dense as it normally is and the marzipan was weirdly not as full on as it has been in other products in the past so I quite liked it. I think that it would go very well with a cup of Chai maybe.

All of the above Sweet Treats are 2 for £6.
f;i
Thank you to Booths and their PR for inviting myself and Luke to this event. Thank you to the staff at Booths Ilkley for putting on an amazing event and being amazing when chatting to them.

I hope that you've enjoyed reading this slightly early festive food blog post and I hope that you come back next time for another blog post!

Ripped To The Max | Boohoo Man Haul

Hey!

Welcome to a brand new blog post. Boohoo Man sent me a few items of clothing (that I chose) including a few things from their new Big and Tall range and I thought that I would talk to you guys about them today. I know that I'm not completely Big or Tall but I definitely end uo in the category of being too big sometimes for commercial items and too small for specialist clothing stores so I wanted to see what Boohoo Man's clothing was like.

The first item in this shopping haul comes outfit of the day post is the Boohoo Man Big and Tall Short Sleeve Checked Shirt in Charcoal. I love a good checked shirt as you've probably guessed in past fashion posts or on my social media. This checked shirt is a dark sort of charcoal and grey mix which is a bit different as you normally either get the sort of bright grey checked shirt or the typical red lumberjack shirt. The fabric is sort of a thick flannel which I think means that it would be a great shirt for layering at this time of year when its still a bit warm in the morning and cold in the afternoon. I also think that its a great piece of clothing to wear buttoned up for a more smart ook but also to pair with something else to give off a more casual vibe for the day.

I like the Big and Tall range from Boohoo Man as it ranges from an XL to a XXXXL which means that you should hopefully be able to find something that fits you no matter what shape or size!

The next item is Big and Tall 2 Pack Basic Crew Neck T-Shirt in Black and White. The fabric of this product is so soft and I believe that everyone no matter what shape, size, gender, etc should have a good staple tshirt that they can wear for well anything really. If you team it up say with something like a leather jacket or a bomber then it would make a great night out outfit or it can always be used with a pair of joggers for lounging around on those lazy weekends. You could always pair the shirt above and one of the tops to create a sort of smart casual look.

The next item that I got is the Black Ripped Knee Spray On Skinny Jeans. I got these a size up just because my legs are more towards the tree trunk side of things than anything else but I love these. I think that the knee rips give it a slight bit of edginess and add flare to any outfit that you wear and I think that black are the best colour when it comes to jeans as they will go with anything. I definitely think that they will be an Autumn staple for myself!

Shoes are from Vans a while ago as I love a bit of Disney and I think that again they add a bit of personalisation to the outfit as it shows that you like Disney and all things film.

Thanks to Edd who took these photos of me. If you want to see any of his work then please go and check out his Instagram.

Thanks to Boohoo Man for sending me these amazing products! Please do go and check out their new Big and Tall Range.

I hope that you have enjoyed this Fashion based blog post and I hope that you come back next time for another blog post!

Saving Money On Your Insurance Due To New Whiplash Laws

Hey!

Welcome to a brand new blog post! I thought that today I would talk to you all about the new whiplash laws and the fact that they might save some of you some money in regards of insurance!

What is whiplash, I hear you say? Whiplash is basically soft tissue damage to the neck and the upper back area following a sharp jolt.

The average cost of car insurance is at an all-time high according to comparethemarket.com, with the average policy set to reach £800 by the end of the year. This is a 14% increase on 2016 and £200 more than in 2015.

The whiplash reforms are a measure to stop minor claims exaggerated/fraudulent whiplash claims, saving the insurance industry around £1bn a year and drivers an expected £40 per year on their car insurance.l which I know isn't a lot in writing but a saving is a saving at the end of the day! However, due to an increase in the rate of insurance premium tax, insurers seem to be unable to pass those savings on which is a shame in today's society.

The changes to how whiplash pay outs are made are due to come into effect in the beginning of 2018, and will introduce a fixed amount payable for injuries lasting less than 2 years. (If you want to find out more about when the changes will be officially happening then scroll to the bottom of this post for the link.)

The changes will also reduce the amount the insurer has to pay in costs for the claim by increasing the Small Claims Track Limit from £1000 to £5000 for road traffic accidents. That means all cases under £5000 will be considered small claims for road traffic accidents. More motorists may be expected to go through the small claims court rather than using a solicitor for car accident claims which will help you save more money in this time of need as solicitors are never cheap!

I hope that you have enjoyed this informative post on the Whiplash Reform and saving money as a driving insurer.

If you want to read more on the whiplash reform and what it means for yourself or anyone that you know of then click here

I hope that your day is going well and that you come back next time for another blog post!

Karma, Karma Chameleon! | Karma Spa Treatment Launch at Lush Leeds Spa

Hey!

Welcome to a brand new blog post! I was invited to the Lush Leeds Spa to their Karma Spa Bloggers Event and I thought that I wouFluld tell you all what happened within this blog post today.

Myself and Luke headed towards the beautiful building. We said our hellos to the other wonderful bloggers that came to the event such as Jess, Katie and everyone else. After this, we were told what the night was going to consist of and that tills were open for the entirety of the event so if you wanted to purchase anything in a quiet environment then that would be absolutely fine to do so.

We chatted for a tiny bit and had a look around before heading down to Lush Spa to experience the Karma Spa Treatment in its excellent entirety. We (myself and Luke) went down into the Spa with the wonderful Jess and her husband

When we arrived in the Kitchen which I normally refer to as the hub of the Spa due to it being the first thing you see as soon as you enter has interior inspired by the coasts of England and Poole which is the hometown of the beloved Lush company. The CEO of Lush wanted to create a British Spa to reflect the ethos of Lush but as Spas are normally more known in the forms of Turkish Spas and so forth so he wanted to promote that England can create something beautiful and peaceful.

We then moved into the first treatment room which consisted of someone being massaged all over via two different members of staff which made for a unique and harmioned experience. The massage also focused on the many tension points that run throughout the body, mind and spirit. We also tried out the Karma Massage Bar which has been on the Lush Kitchen in the past week or so. This Massage Bar contains Patchouli, Sweet Orange, Pine and Lemongrass Oils which give the product that spicy with a citrus hint scent thats infamous with Karma at Lush. The bar also contains Coconut Oil, Butter and Shea Butter to nourish the skin. The room was filled with the same scent which was provided via a solid oil product which dissolved in hot water and permeated the room. We were also treated to another limited edition Karma product that is only available to use via the treatment which was a Karma version of Ceridwen's Cauldron which is a big Bath Melt.

We then went into the next room where I was treated to an amazing head massage whilst we all talked about the new Gorilla Perfumes which I'll talk about later in the post and the Karma scent as a whole as I think that it's very much a love/hate scent mainly via the Patchouli.

Myself and Luke then went into the next room which was a meditation room where we were told to do certain things such as imagine that our worries were a ball of light and that we were letting it out into the centre of Leeds to float away and much more. After this, the patuent is treated to warm coconut water that is poured from a Shirodhara vessel over the third eye and hair to create a meditative state of mind.

We then had a wonderful hot Karma hand and arm massage which settled into a more citrus note due to the Lemongrass and Sweet Orange Oils. I loved it! The best thing about the massage was how soft my skin felt after it.

After this, we looked at the new Gorilla Perfume range. This range has five different scents. Cardamom Coffee which well contains Cardamom and Coffee. The background behind this is that when Simon (the CEO of Lush) was travelling in India, he was invited into certain houses and was given a cup of Cardamom Coffee to drink. This has a spicy but deep scent to it.

The next scent was I'm Home which reminded me of a deep baking cookies sort of scent This one contains Cocoa and Vanilla Absolute's which definitely give a deep sweet scent to this product. Again, the background of this scent comes from when Simon finally arrived home from his travels.

Number three out of five is Amelie Mae. If you're a big Lushie then you might know of Amelie Mae's big sister Imogen Rose. This scent is based around floral as it contains Rose Absolute and Ylang Ylang Oil. The background of this one is apparently that Amelie Mae was jealous that Imogen Rose had a perfume so she finally talked to Simon and they created this perfume!

Rentless' backstory is about a homeless man that Simon met on his travels who made shelter out of most things that he could from what I remember. The man always said that he wasn't homeless but instead was rentless because he was always moving and I believe that this stuck with Simon so he made something that everyone else would remember after it. Rentless contains Patchouli and Grapefruit Oils and Tonka Absolute which give the product a sort of deep fruity scent in a way.

Last but not least on the perfume list is What Would Love Do? I think the background of this one is al about the love that Simon saw whilst on his travels within the past year. This product contains Grapefruit, Tangerine and Lavender Oils which give this perfume a sort of soft citrus scent.

After smelling all of the new perfumes and washcards (which are only £2 which mean if you want to try the new scents but you don't want to fully commit to them then you can use this and see how you feel), we went on over to make a product, there was the choice of making a Butterbear Bath Ballistic and Creamy Candy Bubble Bar but as we went on over later in the event, there was only the mix for the Butterbear's left. We mde the wonderful bears by putting some of the light brown mix into the nose poart of the mould then we covered the rest of the mould in the Cocoa Butter based white mix and then ensured that it was compact enough to set. The only problem with making fresh Lush products is that you have to wait 24 hours for them to set before using them.

We then said our goodbyes and went off back home. Lush wonderfully provided us with a goodie bag each which I thought I would tell you about not to shove in your faces but to just in case you want to know what was in the bag. Myself and Luke got given a Karma Bubble Bar which contains a silver Bath Melt top on each Bubble Bar, a Marmalade Jelly Bomb which contains Grapefruit Oil and makes the skin incredibly soft! There was also a Karma Solid Oil Fizzer in each goodie bag which can be used to scent the room with the wonderful Karma scent.

What's your favourite Lush product? Let me know down below!

Check out Lush here for all of your face and skin needs. Don't forget to check out the Karma range and the new perfumes whilst you're on there!

Thanks to the wonderful Lush staff for inviting me to the Karma Spa Treatment Event and for putting on an amazing night and being wonderful at the event!

I hope that you've enjoyed this beauty based blog post and I hope that you come back next time for another blog post!
